The Tryon Chamber of Commerce has so many worthwhile projects un derway that it is hard to keep up with them. One of the most im portant is the making of a map of the community, by H. M. Guil bert of the Toy Shop. It will give the principal streets in the com munity and individuals can com plete them to suit their desires . . . Much interest is being created in the Clean-Up Campaign . . Tryon High School girls lost their tourna ment game 52 to 19 at Henderson ville instead of the 552 as report ed ... • Plans are complete for the Any and All Bog Show Satur day at 2:30 at Harmon Field. A three months old Boston Terrier named “Beanie’’ will be entered from Chinquapin Farm, it is re ported.Mr. and Mrs. John Harvey of Chicago are expected this week-end at their Columbus home, Tippytoe, the former T. THE EYES HAVE IT At LIONS CLUB MEETING Dr. Gordon Graham, T*yon opto metrist, was the speaker at the Lions Club Tuesday night and gave an outline of the development of reading glasses during the past 50 years. » Dr. Graham told of the impor tance of good vision for school chil dren. He said one needs to learn to see as well as learn to walk. Glasses are needed for comfort, correction of eyes and efficiency in work. Joe Stockton had charge of the program. SALUDA NEWS By Julia Ann Johnson The Saluda Book Club met on Tuesday, Feb. 27. with Mrs. L. L. Clippard. The meeting was opened by Mrs. Fred Walters, who in troduced the visiting speakers, Mrs. John S. Forrest and Mrs. Arnstien, both of Hendersonville. Mrs. For rest gave the highlights of the National Federation meeting which she attended in Miami, Fla., re cently. Mrs. Arnstien gave a talk on collecting books and magazines to send overseas. Mrs. Arnstien is the chairman of this work in this district. The next meeting will be held March 13 at Camp Bear Walla with Mrs. Fred Walters. Visiting guests at the meeting were Mrs. Baxter Moore and daughter, Ann, and Mrs. Archie Covington. A salad course was enjoyed during the social hour. Mr. and Mrs. Jake Holbert of Tryon visited Rev. and Mrs. J. S. Holbert Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Randolph Thom son have announced the birth of a baby boy, born Tuesday, Feb. —. Continued on Back Page _
